biography

LEA NIVEN-SMITH

is a Scottish performer, currently based in Glasgow, with Lebanese heritage.

 

She is a 2021 graduate, completing her BA in Musical Theatre from New College Lanarkshire. Prior to this she completed 3 years of training at Lossiemouth Entertainment Academy, HNC & HND in Musical Theatre.

 

Her training provided her with experience in various dance styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap etc., as well as skills in Character and Mascot representation and experience touring local schools.

 

In 2019, she was selected to debut ‘Jennifer Brown: The Musical’ at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and is a session singer on the EP ‘Outside It’s Snowing’ and the original song ‘I Will Wait For You’ by The Fabulous TT.

 

Lea is also an experienced Workshop Leader and Teaching Assistant (4-16) within theatre groups, schools and college, in acting and dance (jazz & ballet). She also worked alongside Developing the Young Workforce Moray (DYW), where a group of high school pupils worked together to create, write and perform their own musical.

In her youth, Lea was trained by Julie Young (MBE) in her hometown of Perth, the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and was a part of their weekend DramaWorks programme. Lea has continued her training with the Royal Conservatoire in her adulthood, with dance and screen acting courses.

 

Lea also as a wealth of life experience, having worked in the Corporate Arena for almost 10 years within Oil & Gas, Sales & Events, Hospitality, Human Resources etc. In her spare time, Lea is pursuing a degree in Forensics Psychology with the Open University.
